La “Lettera di Breslau”: studio paleografico

The subject of the present study is the so called «Breslau letter», attributed to Luigi Boccherini and analyzed under the profile of his writing. Comparing the handwriting of the letter with Boccherini’s autographs, under the criteria of paleographic methodology, it is shown that the «Breslau letter» was not written by the composer from Lucca. In the essay the authenticity of the «Breslau letter» is not taken into consideration (the letter could have been dictated by Boccherini to someone else or could be a copy of the original). In the future, only an accurate analysis of its content could confirm or disprove the authenticity.
