Arrivederci G 460, ciao L 267: una nueva atribución del Sexteto para tres violines, dos violas y violonchelo de Luigi Boccherini

Nel catalogo Gérard figura un Sestetto per tre violini, due viole e violoncello (G 460), sulla cui paternità, tuttavia, lo stesso studioso avanza delle riserve. Un attento esame comparativo, condotto a partire dall’incipit musicale, consente ora una nuova attribuzione. Questo brano è infatti il primo dei sestetti che il musicista Gaetano Brunetti compose per il Principe delle Asturie, futuro re Carlo IV di Spagna (L 267). Possiamo dunque senz’altro affermare che il Sestetto G 460 deve essere escluso dal catalogo delle composizioni boccheriniane.

The musicologist Yves Gérard included in his catalog of Luigi Boccherini’s music a Sextet for three violins, two violas and cello (G 460), although expressing doubts about its actual authorship. The collation of this sextet’s musical incipits with other contemporary compositions has resulted in a new attribution; indeed, the work is actually the first of the sextets composed by the musician Gaetano Brunetti for the Prince of Asturias, future King Carlos IV of Spain (L 267). Therefore, once its actual authorship has been ascertained, G 460 must be considered from now on as one of the works which should be excluded from Boccherini’s catalog.
