Un approccio alle opere cameristiche di Luigi Boccherini: i primi quartetti e la cronologia dell’op. 9

According to his “official chronology”, Luigi Boccherini wrote his Opp. 1-10 in a ten-year span, but little is known about his activity as composer in this period. Although most of his sacred music dates from these years and one can suppose that he also wrote instrumental music, he appears to have written only his Opp. 1, 2 3 and 4 between 1760 and 1766. However, there is a strong case against this “official” chronology concerning his second set of quartets (Op. 9), supposedly written in 1770, but more probably from the first years of the 1760s.
